Lunaria - Contryside without Name (2007)
It’s the theatrical fairy-tale of Vincenzo Consolo, author of famous books on the Sicily, that narrates the history of a melancholy viceroy and the fall of the moon. A metaphor of the decline of the power, but also of the culture and the poetry, like necessary illusion against the precariousness of the life, always able to born again in unthinkable places and in new and pure form. For the realization of the room they have been uses two olive’s trunks that have been cut longitudinally gaining 19 sculptures. The first five, installed along the walls of the corridor, lined the way that takes the guest to the room, the "Contryside without name", where to the center, the round shape of the great bed, represents the moon. Along the perimeter of the room, seven “gigant trunks books” have been placed, high three meters, whose pages are sculptures cut in thin sections, and mounted in a way to form the pages of a huge book. The visitor is invited to turn over the page and read, leaving that the grains, the holes, the splits, the tangles of the nodes tell something, creating continuous comparison between the olive tree (symbol of wisdom) and the book (vehicle of spread of the knowledge).
Una notte sfiorati dal chiarore della Luna, come dolce carezza sul mare dell’emozione.
